1. Is Umami GDPR compliant?
Yes, Umami does not collect any personally identifiable information and anonymizes all data collected. Users cannot be identified and are never tracked across websites.
2. Do I need to display a cookie notice to users?
No, Umami does not use any cookies in the tracking code.
3. Does Umami work on a single page application (SPA)?
Yes, Umami automatically tracks page navigations in SPAs without any additional configuration.
4. Can Umami record events such as button clicks?
Yes, please see Track Events under Getting Started.
5. What data does Umami collect?
Umami collects page views, referrer URLs, browsers, operating systems, device types, and country of origin. All data is anonymized and no personally identifiable information is stored. See Metric definitions for a full list.
6. Can I self-host Umami?
Yes, Umami is open source and can be self-hosted on your own infrastructure. See Installation for details.
7. What databases does Umami support?
Umami supports PostgreSQL (minimum v12.14).
8. How long is data retained?
For self-hosted installations, data is retained indefinitely unless you manually delete it. For Umami Cloud, see the Cloud FAQ.
